STAY OUTSIDE

VINYL 7“/CD

2000, Sprinter Records, Lane 4 (7“ EP), DALA 026 (CD)

A melodious EP started the Admiral’s output in the new millennium. The title track is a duet with former Baby-Jail-bass player and singer Bice Aeberli.

Everybody's longin' for the biggest knife

VINYL 10“/CD

2001, DALA Produkte 027

A great album with 16 great songs, that were all penned and played by David. It was coproduced by Bice Aeberli and features also some songs already known from earlier releases. This is a bit underrated, as the public focused on the cover album “14 Great Tracks!”, which was released at the same time.

14 GREAT TRACKS !

CD

2000, DALA Produkte 029

For The Biggest Knife» Album.

«14 Tracks» was released on the same day as «Everybody’s Longin’ For The Biggest Knife» album and pretty much stole the show, which David regrets today.  It featured Rockabilly covers of hits and classics (Black Sabbath, Madonna, Queen and more). This was a time when those types of funny covers were also done by acts like Dick Brave and Handsome Hank and in retrospect they don’t sound that convincing any more. However, there were a few surprises. The most notable is a cover of a chanson by Georges Brassens, that is sung by David’s father Bruno!

TREASURE ISLAND

CD

2001, DALA Produkte 30

Eher kurzlebige Töfflibuben-Musik von einer kurzlebigen Band, die aus Boni Koller und Bice Aeberli von Baby Jail, dem Drummer Aad Hollander (Trio From Hell) und David besteht.

The only recording of a musical motorcycle gang that featured members of Baby Jail and the (future) Aad Hollander Trio From Hell besides the Admiral. Not a real remarkable recording.

JOHN LENIN

THIS IS THE ONE

VINYL 7"

2002, SPRINTER RECORDS, LANE 5

«I Wish I Was Young» klagt der 26jährige David. Alles ist relativ.

Kurt Cobain sings and the Ramones play. That could be a short description of the sound of John Lenin, one of David Langhard’s bands besides his solo project Admiral James T. Definitely more Rock than pop. “I Wish I Was Young”, sang 26year old David. The Times They Are A-Changin’!

… I DID IT YOUR WAY !

VINYL 12“/CD

2002, DALA Produkte 031

The third album of Admiral James T. shows him on his way to being the prolific songwriter and performer he is today. Most of the 18 tracks really rock.

Winterthur punks Huckedicht and the Admiral join together for this rocking split EP.

"he’s something else!" a Tribute to Eddie Cochran

CD

2003, DALA Produkte 034

During his long career there were lots of tributes from David to his youth idol Eddie Cochran. This sampler was entirely dedicated to Eddie and featured some interesting contributions from Swiss and international bands.  David was present with five different outfits – and even put his very first recording on the sampler – a version of “Love Again”, recorded, when David was only sweet 13. He already plays all instruments and sings (his voice still unbroken). Another remarkable contribution on this album comes from guitarist Darrel Higham, partner of rockabilly singer Imelda May. David’s electro Neutral Zone version of “C’Mon Everybody” was rather controversial – but he still plays it on stage nowadays!

BRING ME THE HEAD OF GORDON SUMNER

CD

2004, 808 Records, 808-009

Mit «Bring Me The Head Of Gordon Sumner» schafft Admiral James T. so etwas wie den kommerziellen Durchbruch. This real rocker I wrote for Brian Setzer, but he couldn’t handle the guitar solo.»

This was sort of a breakthrough album for Admiral James T. and sold very well. Musically, this is no revolution in David’s vast recording catalogue. But this album was punchy, fresh and funny (not only on the album title, a rather ironic nod to Policeman Sting). There were liner notes like «This real rocker I wrote for Brian Setzer, but he couldn’t handle the guitar solo.»  And there was a heartful tribute to bass player and Wrecking Crew member Carol Kaye (“Catch You Carol”). Some horns are also on this album (for once not played by David himself). One of the milestones in David’s work.

"i take a ride..

CD

2004, DALA Produkte 036

«I Take A Ride» vom «Bring Me The Head...»

The title song of this EP was also featured on «Bring Me The Head...», but this is a slightly different and more punchy version, that omitted the Andy Summer intro of the “original”. Some great Kinks guitars and “Dingaling” lyrics on the other tracks.

THE BREAKDOWNS

CD-R

2005

The Breakdowns were David's short excursion to Sixties Garage Band. Bice Aeberli was handling the lead vocals.

THE DRAINPIPES

LAST DANCE

VINYL 7"

2006, Pilot Records PL 4503

The Drainpipes were a short-lived Rockabilly band, that was founded for a support concert for Big Slim Phantom (Stray Cats). The female drummer never had played the instrument before. Despite these limitations, the sole EP of the band rocks and rolls.

THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOONBOOTS

CD

2006, LEECH 070-2

Quasi das logische Folgealbum zu «Bring Me The Head....».

A «logical» follower to the «Bring Me The Head...» album with a similar title. 18 new songs with lots of Beatles influences (“Rubber Soul” and “Revolver” era).

NEUTRAL ZONE

IT DON’T MEAN A THING IF YOU AIN’T GOT THAT KLING

CD

2006, Indikator IK-3301

The first Neutral Zone album since 1997. Catchy melodies and a lot of vocals makes this the most accessible and danceable Neutral Zone album to date.

I see the pirates yellin' at their foes

VINYL 12“/CD

2008, Dala Produkte 040

20 more songs by David Langhard, written and performed by him as a one man band. As a singer, David has matured considerably. He can change the moods and still be intense and soulful.

and the BELL GARDEN FOUR

CD

2008, Helsinki Records HEL01

In 2003 Admiral James T. began to play his concerts with a band – before he had done all his shows as a one-man-band. However, this production with the Bell Garden Four is his only real band album under the name of Admiral James T. The Bell Garden Four were Bice Aeberli, Aad Hollander, Andrew Wolfensberger and Nico Feer. The same line-up also worked with singer Guz, who was sort of a mentor for young David. However, this album is not a change in style and the band never went further than to simply accompany David on his songs – a fact that David regrets.

OHREWÜRM 5

CD

2009, TUDOR 8308

This topic of this song about a Teddy Bear for he children’s sampler «Ohrewürm» was one, David really knows. Since childhood he is a collector of Teddy Bears and nowadays he must own around 300 of them. One of the rare performances of David in his Swiss dialect.
